Early on in his artistic journey, Avi created a crude form of a water carier, heaving under the weight of his yoke. He named the form the “Karamis”. In the Karamis form, Avi expresses his emotional connections to his world: Life is hard and art is a constant struggle. The Karamis has been incorporated into the increasingly complex design of Avi’s paintings. Avi uses computer simulation to morph the Karamis into an endless array of drawings. He creates pattern by duplicating layers, expanding or contracting. Avi draws detailed compositions and then paints oil and acrylic on canvas. The results are reminiscent of the American artists, Frank Stella and Brice Marden. The reviewer Gil Goldfine likened Avi’s images to the late Keith Haring. Avi has had numerous exhibitions over the last fifteen years, and was reviewed in the Jerusalem Post Arts&Leisure supplement. Throughout 2002, Avi’s paintings graced the set of the hit Israeli tellenovela :”Forever Love”. |
